Marnholt - Corduroy Shirt with Two Flap Pockets

£49.95

A corduroy shirt in a fine wale cotton, with two flap pockets and a standard point collar.

Corduroy arrives every autumn and leaves again in April, which is exactly what it should do. Cut as a shirt rather than a jacket, it stays useful indoors as well.

Why this corduroy shirt?

  • Fine wale: the ribs are narrow, which keeps the surface neat rather than pushing the shirt towards workwear.
  • Flap pockets: the two chest pockets close with a button under the flap, so the openings stay flat.
  • Pile surface: the raised pile holds a little air, which is what makes corduroy feel warmer than a flat cotton of the same weight.
  • Point collar: a plain point collar keeps the shirt formal enough to wear to dinner.
  • Colour depth: corduroy takes dye into the pile, which is what gives these colours their depth in low light.

Ideal for:

Men who want the season in the fabric rather than in the cut. It works over a T-shirt in October and under a knitted jumper in January.

Does the pile flatten?
It can where a bag strap sits. A steam and a light brush lifts it again.

Is it warm?
Warmer than a plain shirt, cooler than an overshirt. It is a mid-season weight.

How should it be ironed?
On the reverse and on a medium setting, which protects the pile on the face.
